Don’t be afraid of soot. Candle soot is not harmful to you it is similar to the soot given off by toasters and cooking oils. Everyday soot is not harmful to your health and it is different than the soot created by burning coal or gasoline. The idea that a soy candle is soot free candle is a myth. Soy candles do have less soot, but they do produce some soot, a cleaner soot. There is currently no scientific evidence that paraffin wax candles and the soot they produce are harmful to one's health.
The choice of what candle type to purchase is a personal choice. Both types of candles can be dyed and each can be highly scented. Soy candles are created from soybeans, a renewable resource, and they do last twice as long as paraffin wax candles, so they are “Greener” and more Eco-friendly than paraffin candles. Both paraffin wax and soy wax are both good choices for candles, and the candle you choose is totally up to you!
